01PAT’s contractual parts warranty
Qualifying parts for personal-use vehicles generally include a 90-day (three-month) contractual warranty. Eligible parts for taxis and commercially used vehicles generally include 30 days. Coverage begins on the purchase date. Your invoice and any transaction-specific written terms identify the actual covered part and period.
02Scope of coverage
The voluntary contractual warranty normally applies to the qualifying part supplied by PAT. If a covered failure is confirmed, PAT will review the part and the applicable repair, replacement, exchange or other contractual remedy. Mandatory consumer remedies always remain available.
03Engines
The contractual engine warranty is generally limited to the engine’s main assembly. Peripheral accessories, seals, gaskets and components not identified on the invoice do not receive automatic additional coverage. Before installation, the installer should check the cooling system, fluids and related components. Normal wear or damage caused by incorrect installation is not a defect in the part supplied.
04Transmissions and differentials
Eligible internal failures may be covered once inspected. External seals and peripheral components are not automatically covered. Damage demonstrably caused by misuse, improper servicing or incorrect installation can fall outside voluntary warranty terms, subject to mandatory law.
05Electrical and electronic parts
Correct, non-defective electrical or electronic parts are generally non-refundable under PAT’s voluntary return policy. Faulty qualifying parts can be exchanged or remedied as applicable. Check power supply, grounds, wiring, compatibility and any required programming before installation.
06Body parts and tires
Body panels and tires do not necessarily include an additional contractual warranty unless specified on the invoice. Inspect body part condition, attachment points and colour before modification or painting; tires require appropriate inspection before use. Mandatory legal warranties continue to apply.
07Non-defective returns
PAT does not generally accept convenience returns of correct, non-defective parts. If an exception is authorized, a 25% handling fee may apply. The part should be complete, unaltered and accompanied by proof of purchase. No fee is imposed where a mandatory legal remedy requires otherwise.
08Labour and related costs
The usual voluntary warranty is parts-only and does not automatically include labour, diagnosis, towing, rental vehicles or transportation unless expressly agreed in writing. This does not remove reimbursement or damages that may be required by law.
09How to request warranty service
Contact PAT at 450-676-1577 or through the Contact form when a problem is discovered. Have your invoice, vehicle details and problem description ready. Ask for instructions before expensive removal or shipping. Inspection may be necessary. Statutory obligations remain applicable.
10Mandatory Quebec legal protections
Legal warranties can apply to used goods sold to consumers in Quebec, in addition to voluntary coverage. Goods must be as described, reasonably fit for their normal intended purpose and last a reasonable time considering their used condition and other circumstances. Commercial terms such as “final sale,” “exchange only,” or “as is” cannot eliminate mandatory legal rights. Business-to-business sales may be subject to different rules.
11Your invoice and applicable rules
The invoice identifies the transaction and specific voluntary warranty terms. Mandatory applicable Quebec law prevails in case of conflict. Updates to this page do not retroactively remove acquired rights.
